A lighter Labor Day week brought 805 head. USDA reported lower prices for lightweight feeders, with strong demand for quality replacement-type heifers. Receipts fell 378 head (32.0%) from 1,183 on August 31. USDA reported steers and heifers under 500 lb $5–$10/cwt lower; steers over 500 lb $2–$5 lower; and heifers over 500 lb steady to $5 higher.

The previous report described feeders as steady to $3 lower; this week’s report remained softer, at $1–$4 lower overall.
