Texas Weekly Cattle Roundup — Week of Aug. 23–29, 2026

According to the USDA AMS Texas Weekly Cattle Summary, statewide receipts totaled 5,010 head. Due to statewide drought conditions and bearish market conditions, steer and heifer calves sold mostly $15.00 to $30.00 lower on light to moderate demand, while slaughter cows and bulls traded $5.00 to $15.00 lower. In the Panhandle, Dalhart reported 1,624 receipts, where feeder steers weighing 800–900 lbs sold mostly $15.00 lower and heifers trended lower. No current reports were posted for Amarillo or Tulia. In West Texas, Producers Livestock Auction Company sold 568 head, with calves and yearlings trading $5.00 to $10.00 lower. Abilene, Stephenville, and Eastland had no current reports. In Central Texas, Jordan Cattle Auction reported 5,142 receipts, with lighter weight stocker steers selling $10.00 to $18.00 lower.
